QR (Quick Response) codes

TheStudio4 Website QR Code

A QR or Quick Response code is a two-dimensional barcode. When you scan such a QR code using a mobile phone camera or a webcam, the QR reader application processes the barcode and either takes you to a Web site, a YouTube video or some other web content. QR codes provide a quick and simple way to point people towards your website or information about your business.

QR codes can contain the following types of information:

  • Website URL
  • YouTube Video
  • Google Maps Location (Latitude and Longitude)
  • Social Media (Facebook, Twitter etc)
  • iTunes Link
  • Plain Text
  • Telephone Number
  • SMS Message
  • Email Address
  • Email Message
  • Contact Details (a VCARD)
  • Event (a VCALENDAR)
  • Wifi Login (Android Only)

There are still more ways in which QR codes can be used.

How do you use a QR Code?

To use a QR code on your mobile phone in most cases you will need a 3rd party app. These are usually available for free;

Android – QR Droid

IPhone – RL Classic

Once you have the app running just point your camera at the QR code and it will process the information.
