January 2023 saw the publication of our Eurocode document showing that the standard StormTech Construction Guidelines for minimum and maximum cover depths are acceptable when applying Eurocode design principles.

The announcement that the government intends to implement Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 in England, means that SuDS adoption is now expected to be mandatory. With legislation anticipated in 2024, designers must get up to speed with the range of possible solutions above and below ground. This was highlighted in an article in New Civil Engineer.

In April, Defra launched its Plan for Water, with SuDS and water quality at its heart. Only ADS StormTech has Isolator Row, an inbuilt water quality management device with independently tested and validated Mitigation Indices. This means that expensive additional treatment may not be needed in the SuDS management train.

In May, our ADS Technical Note TN 6.21EU showed how the American standards, upon which StormTech is founded, provides both robust structural design and a consistently high-quality product. It also linked the American standards to the Eurocode structural design approach.

Whilst in July we were pleased to announce that StormTech is the first combined SuDS attenuation and water quality management system to have 3rd party verification and provides an integrated system with mitigation indices (MIs) suitable for medium pollution hazards. The results were published on the British Water website.
