What makes a perfect SEO Report

SEO by Peter0 comments

Reports are something that we all must produce, whether we work as in-house SEOs or for agencies. An SEO report can be used to show how far a campaign has progressed, to show the ROI, and to justify why we adopted the strategy we did.  However, SEOs prefer to spend their time working on SEO strategy rather than providing reports.

It is important to know what makes a great SEO report and what metrics to look out for for your business.

So what is an SEO Report?

An SEO report is a compilation of SEO indicators that show how well your website is performing. Organic traffic, conversions, backlinks, and technical website health are all topics covered in most reports. SEO reporting is a powerful tool for communicating with stakeholders—usually your boss or client—about the impact of your SEO efforts on their business. SEO report should show:

7 reasons your business should be on social media.

Media by Peter0 comments

Good social media presence is not just merely an option, it is necessary for brands nowadays. In the past couple of years, marketing in social media channels has grown rapidly. More people follow brands on social media than follow celebrities. On Instagram alone, 80% of people follow at least one business.

If you’re not taking advantage of social media, you’re missing out on a fast, inexpensive, and effective way to reach almost half the world’s population. So, here are just a few reasons exactly why your business should be using it …

Increase your brand awareness.

With nearly half of the world’s population using social platforms, they’re a natural place to reach new and highly targeted potential customers.

Research shows that a person must come into contact with a brand on average seven times before they trust them. This contact makes them more likely to make a purchase. Social … [Read More]

Why should I switch my website to HTTPS?

Internet by Peter0 comments

Most people we speak to don’t know the potential benefits of switching their website to https, so here’s how it can help you.

Firstly, What is it?

I’m going to try and keep this relatively low tech – HTTPS webpages typically uses SSL to encrypt communications which involves two ‘keys’ to encrypt communications, a ‘public’ key and a ‘private’ key. Anything encrypted with the public key can only be decrypted by the private key and vice-versa. So if you think of it as a safe, if only you and the person you are sending to the safe to know the combination no one else and look inside. If you send the safe with the door open, there is potential for anyone to see what’s inside.

How do I know if a website is secure?

It will typically be shown by your browser – when a trusted SSL Digital Certificate is … [Read More]

Australian online store introduces world’s first tax on Microsoft IE7

Internet by Peter0 comments

Kogan is slapping a 6.8 per cent tax on customers accessing the company’s website on the Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) browser.

The world first tax will be applied to all products on the Kogan.com website when accessed through IE7. “Internet Explorer 7 has long since passed its use-by date. It’s a constant source of frustration for our web guys and we’re sick of burning cash on a browser that hit the market nearly six years ago. It goes against everything Kogan stands for,” said Ruslan Kogan, Kogan founder and CEO, in a statement.

Customers visiting the website using Internet Explorer 7 are met with a message saying,

‘It appears you or your system administrator has been in a coma for over 5 years and you are still using IE7. To help make the Internet a better place, you will be charged a 6.8% tax on your purchase from Kogan.com. This … [Read More]

EU Cookie Law – What does it mean to me?

Internet by Peter0 comments
What is this EU cookie law I keep hearing about?

In May 2011 a law was passed stating that all websites dropping non-essential cookies on visitors’ devices have to declare it publicly and visitors should agree to let the cookies be used. The most important thing to know is that if your website doesn’t comply with the new law, you can potentially be fined up to £500,000.

Recent reports suggest that 95% of UK internet companies are yet to comply with the new law [1] with less than a month to go before the deadline. Time is running out.

Who does it apply to?

If you or your business resides within the EU, you have until the 26th May 2012 to implement your solution on your website(s).

What are ‘Cookies’?

Besides from being a nice tasty snack, Cookies are the name given to a very small file that … [Read More]
