Here at The Studio 4 we value work experience, and believe in helping young people develop their skills. Over the last few weeks we’ve had a number of young people in from various schools or colleges to experience everything marketing has to offer. Whether they’ve wanted to try a little bit of everything or focus on one area we’ve given them important tasks to expand their knowledge and confidence. Working on real projects for our clients, we like to give them the responsibility and creative freedom they may not get elsewhere.
Over the last 2 weeks we’ve been joined by Tom, who came to us to expand his graphic design knowledge and learn about what it means to be a graphic designer. We’ve had him designing business cards, logos and even websites. We asked him what he thought about his work experience here at The Studio 4 and here’s what he had to say;
“Work experience at The Studio 4 has been great!
I can now do more than I could before I came to The Studio 4, I have got a lot more confident with programmes on the computer such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Not just the work but I have got confident with the people who I have been working with, they are kind and a good community and environment to be working with, it makes the day less long when you have people to talk to. It is fun, I made a logo, which was my favourite part, and I also designed business cards and was given the opportunity to make a name for a company.
Lunch hour starts at 1 and finishes at 2; this is so much longer than the lunchtime I get at school and more free as you can go places. The Studio 4 is also in walking range of ALDI and even Telford Town Centre! It has been great and gets better each day. I would definitely recommend it to others as it is a great experience and you learn a lot about the work place.
So overall, my work experience at The Studio 4 has been fun and choosing The Studio 4 was worth it. Those who are looking to do work experience I think The Studio 4 would be a really good chance and a really good place to start at, it offers graphic design, website designing and more, also seeing how the other people in the office work and learning from them. The most important thing about work experience would be getting the correct experience; it depends on what sort of thing you would be looking for. It has been a successful work experience at The Studio 4 and if I would do it differently I would probably look into the website and research about it more. So if you are looking for a work experience in design and technology I would research and have a good look at The Studio 4 company and what the people here do. Ask lots of questions, you will get more confident over your time here, speak to people, communicating In the work place can make it easier for you to feel more comfortable working with them.”
